Technical Information about this website’s accessibility

Buckinghamshire Council is committed to making mywycombe.wycombe.gov.uk accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance Status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the following issues:

  1. Hidden element has focusable content
There are hidden elements (with the attribute aria-hidden="true") that contain focusable elements (elements that can receive focus from a keyboard) on some pages. Screenreader users may find this confusing, as the element is removed from the reading order but not the focus order. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 4.1.2 (Name, Role, Value).
  2. Form field is not labelled
Some form elements do not have descriptive text labels. Unclear labelling makes it harder for screenreader and speech-input users to fill out forms. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 4.1.2 (Name, Role, Value).
  3. Colour contrast does not meet minimum requirement
Some text does not meet the WCAG minimum colour contrast requirements, which may cause issues for users who are colour blind or have low vision. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.3 (Contrast - Minimum).

Disproportionate burden

Not applicable.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Documents published before 23 September 2018

Non-HTML documents published before September 2018 do not need to be accessible - unless users need them to use a service.

Third party content

Where we choose to feature third party content or functionality on our website, we are responsible for ensuring it meets accessibility standards. However, we are not responsible for the accessibility of third party platforms or content that is neither funded nor developed by us, or under our control. This includes:

  • third party websites that we link to from this website and any of our other digital channels
  • social media platforms
  • data we supply to national databases
  • third party content we are legally required to publish but is not in the control of Buckinghamshire Council

What we're doing to improve accessibility

We monitor accessibility using automated checks via Siteimprove and manual checks.

We intend to finish replacing all legacy council websites, such as mywycombe.wycombe.gov.uk, within the next 12 months. Any new content we publish will be compliant with the WCAG 2.1 AA standard.
